After a fair amount of waiting, the PSO2 Episode 4 release date has finally been revealed! The next batch of content for Phantasy Star Online 2 is making its way to the West, and these new adventures are going to have our heroes meeting some unexpected opponents.

Check out the PSO 2 Episode 4 Release Date trailer that was revealed as part of IGN's Summer of Gaming event:

Although this trailer (and its associated content) is new to the West, it actually made its debut in Japan a few years back. As DualShockers reported (and as you can see from the trailer), the heroes will be fighting the legendary Japanese WW2-era warship Yamato starting on the PSO2 Episode 4 release date.

Information on this new episode's release (and future content) is covered in the Phantasy Star Online 2 wiki. Episode 4 takes place two years after the conclusion of Episode 3; the player character has finally awoken from their cold sleep. ARKS has discovered a planet in another dimension: Earth. This discovery has coincided with an increase in the number of ARKS members and a bunch of weird creatures called Phantoms making an appearance on the planet.

The Japanese version of the game is already all the way up to Episode 6, so you can potentially read on about upcoming content through the game's fan wiki. Do bear in mind, however, that you might potentially spoil future content.
