The upcoming puzzle platformer remake Catherine: Full Body will have a block on the usage of PS4 Share for the second half of the game's story mode as reported by Persona Central.
Catherine: Full Body is a remake of 2011's Catherine. The game tells the tale of Vincent Brooks, a man who is unwilling to commit to marriage with his girlfriend Katherine McBride. He meets a seductive single woman named Catherine and ends up having a one-night stand which blossoms into a full-blown affair.
This affair leads to some pretty gnarly nightmares, and those nightmares are represented by the game's levels that you have to navigate. A teaser video hyping up the remake was released in December of last year after the game was announced to be making its way to the West.
Catherine: Full Body has a new girl added to the cast. This lovely little devil has a secret. Judging by the trailer, one can certainly come up with some theories as to what would cause Vincent Brooks to freak out like that...
Game Director Kenichi Gotoh took to Twitter to respond to a number of questions about the game. Among them was a query about whether or not players would be able to use PS4 Share functionality with the game. While he responded in the affirmative, he added that it wouldn't work in the second half of the game's story mode in order to prevent spoilers.
While this will somewhat stymie potential spoilers from casual streamers, a more professional setup might use a direct capture solution that entirely bypasses PS4 Share. It'll likely help in some fashion - but probably not very much.
This isn't the first time that Atlus has had issues with people streaming their games. They imposed rather strict streaming rules on Persona 5 when it came out in the west, more than 6 months after its release in Japan, warning of copyright strikes. They did revise them after a backlash relaxing slightly and these are far more relaxed then Persona 5's, although we again are seeing a likely release date split with the western release being set at sometime 2019 compared to Japan's Valentine's day release. One running theory is that the placement may be that Rin, the new character, takes on a more prominent story role in the second half.
Catherine: Full Body is set to release in Japan on February 14, 2019, for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita. It will be making its way to the West for the PlayStation 4 (and very possibly not on the Vita at all) at a later point in 2019.
