Days Gone, the motorbiking/zombie killing PS4 exclusive has been delayed to 2019, having previously been scheduled for a 2018 release date. The update was given via a new release date listing for the game on the PlayStation website. According to sources close to industry analyst Dominik Bošnjak, the move is "a purely business decision" not one related to the game's development, stating that "the project hit all of its recent development milestones and will be out at the start of Sony's 2019 fiscal year, i.e. next April." This also matches what industry analyst Daniel Ahmad (known online as ZhugeEX) has said on development going well.

Sony Worldwide Studio president Shuhei Yoshida had previously stated, during an interview at PSX 2017, that Days Gone was planned as a 2018 release but gave no further details on the exact timing. Studio Bend SIE hasn't released a game since 2012's Uncharted: Fight for Fortune having previously worked on the Syphon Filter series and a number of handheld PlayStation titles such as Resistance: Retribution and Uncharted: Golden Abyss.

Days Gone was revealed during Sony's 2016 E3 press conference. It puts players into the motorcycle boots of Deacon St. John, a former bounty hunter trying to survive in a post-apocalyptic setting. Days Gone takes place in the Pacific Northwest, two years after a global pandemic wiped out a substantial section of the human population. The world is filled with freakers, infected beings who are incredibly fast and aggressive. There are freakers who were previously human as well as wildlife such as bears.

The game's flagship element is its huge hordes of freakers which the player must tackle. In the gameplay demo showcased at E3 when the game was revealed, we were shown the ways in which the player must manage the huge crowds of freakers. Traps, environmental hazards, and weaponry are used to thin the crowd before the player moves in to finish off the remaining stragglers. During Sony's E3 2017 presentation, further details were given about the game. An additional gameplay demo was shown which revealed crafting mechanics, an RPG-like leveling system for both Deacon and his motorcycle, as well as multiple ways to tackle the same scenario, be sure to check it out below). It also showed Deacon fighting human enemies which had set traps and tried to ambush him.
