If you've ever wanted to play some Resident Evil multiplayer, get ready to get hyped: the Project Resistance Teaser has set the stage for a new experience set in one of the finest survival horror franchises ever made.
Background of the Project Resistance TeaserProject Resistance is the name of the newest Resident Evil game, and it is certainly not going to be another remake. This brand-new game will give players what appears to be a dedicated, co-operative Resident Evil multiplayer experience.
Longtime Valve fans will immediately make some parallels to the likes of Left 4 Dead. There are, after all, four humans with firearms and melee weapons fending off zombie-like creatures. While Left 4 Dead may have popularized this style of game, it was far from the first, mind — Zombie Panic! Source launched a full year before Left 4 Dead. Heck, if we're being somewhat broader in the definition, one could argue that the SNES game Zombies Ate My Neighbors is the grandfather to many of these types of games.
So, a Resident Evil multiplayer game of this style isn't something exactly new in concept, but damned if it doesn't sound interesting.
Our First Look at Resident Evil MultiplayerA Project Resistance Teaser Trailer has released today, giving us a solid look at a cinematic of this upcoming Resident Evil multiplayer experience. In this teaser, we see four humans wielding a variety of weapons as a 5-minute countdown timer counts down. Someone appears to be watching them from a control room and this mysterious figure activates traps and releases creatures.
The humans work together to beat back the zombies and a Licker is subsequently sent out after them, evoking imagery of Left 4 Dead's Hunter by holding down one of the humans. It strays near a pre-placed mine and is defeated when one of the four humans blasts the mine with a shotgun, blowing the Licker to bits.
As the trailer comes to a close, we then see our mysterious observer open a drawer and put on some gloves. These are then revealed to be some sort of control for Mr. X, the terrifying pursuer of the police station in Resident Evil 2. The trailer then concludes.
More details about Project Resistance are going to be revealed at the Tokyo Game Show 2019. In the meantime, you can watch X give it to ya in the Project Resistance Teaser Trailer below or check out the game's official website.
