Gangster-themed Prohibition-era strategy game Empire of Sin has a release date. Romero Games and Paradox Interactive's immersive 1920s criminal underworld sim launches for PC and current-gen consoles on December 1st.

What kind of game is Empire of Sin?

In Empire of Sin, you'll assume control of one of fourteen historically-inspired mob bosses including Stephanie St. Clair, Goldie Garneau, and Al Capone. Once you've picked your boss, you'll assemble a criminal empire brick by brick, hustling and charming your way to the top while dealing with people who cross you in whatever way you see fit. Naturally, each of the bosses will have different strengths and weaknesses, leading to playthroughs that feel different with each boss. You can check out the new pre-order trailer for Empire of Sin right here:

Gameplay-wise, Empire of Sin will offer a mixture of strategic empire management and turn-based combat. While you're in the management phase, you'll oversee your establishments including speakeasies, casinos, and supply chains. Naturally, being a criminal mastermind isn't without its fair share of conflict, so you'll also have to engage in some fighting. Combat plays out in an XCOM-style turn-based arena in which you'll need to balance defeating your enemies with keeping your squad safe.

You'll be able to get your bootleggin' hands on Empire of Sin when it launches for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch on December 1st this year. There's no word yet on whether Empire of Sin will also be coming to next-gen platforms. When we know more about this one, we'll wire you the info via secret code. Until then, stay put and no funny business, eh?

Dark Souls changed my life, and I'm here to spread the good news. I like pretty much all sorts of games, but I judge everything by its proximity to our Lord and saviour, Dark Souls.
