The Prison Architect developer will no longer be Introversion; instead, Double Eleven is stepping up to take the reins of the premier prison simulation game. What's more, the fine folks at Double Eleven have announced that a brand new update for this nearly four-year-old game is in the works — and it will be released in just a few short days.
Double Eleven has announced that they will be taking over as the Prison Architect developer in a news post on the game's Steam Community page. You might not have heard of these guys, but the game is good hands: these are the same people who handled the console versions of Prison Architect. They also have the Windows version of Crackdown 3, the Lego Harry Potter games, and the PlayStation Vita port of LittleBigPlanet under their belt (along with several other games). Suffice it to say, these guys know their stuff.
As part of their takeover of Prison Architect, Double Eleven has announced that they will be rolling out a free update on June 27, 2019. This update will include the following new features:
- 4 new floors
- 4 new walls
- increased foreman cap
- guard response button
- fixed scanners
- more quick rooms
- tunnel search button
- full rotations for items
While this particular update from the new Prison Architect developer will be free, Double Eleven has stated that some updates for the game are going to be released as paid DLC. If you don't yet already own Prison Architect, PC players can get it on Steam, the Humble Store, or GOG for $29.99 or your regional equivalent. Console players can get it for the Xbox One or Nintendo Switch at $29.99 or the PlayStation 4 for $24.99.
