Two Prison Architect Anniversary Editions have been made available for fans of this prison-building management and simulation game in celebration of the title's five-year anniversary.

Prison Architect has a lot in common with many management and simulation games. Players must carefully construct rooms and manage employees in order to ensure efficient, safe, and profitable operations. A key difference of this game, however, is noted in the title — players are managing their very own prison.

The game has received a steady stream of updates ever since it was launched and it is now celebrating its five-year anniversary with two Prison Architect Anniversary Editions. These special editions of the game will be provided to all current and future owners for free and present an interesting opportunity that isn't made available with most games on the market.

What's in the Prison Architect Anniversary Editions?

Two distinct editions of the game are now available to players who currently own the game. The "2015 version" represents the game as it originally launched five years ago. For a slightly different flavor, the "2018 version" will let players experience the last official update released by Introversion; development of Prison Architect was taken over by Double Eleven more than a year ago.

These two special editions of the game aren't going to be available for a limited time or something like that — Double Eleven has committed to keeping them permanently available. If you don't have the time or inclination to play them right now, you'll be able to check out these throwback editions of the game at a later date.

Double Eleven is also celebrating the Prison Architect 5-year anniversary in another way: you can buy Prison Architect on Steam for just $5.99, a massive 80% discount off of its normal price. If you'd like to get the full experience (or you just need to grab some missing DLC), you can also buy the Prison Architect Total Lockdown Bundle on Steam for $17.24, a 64% discount off of its normal price.

What do you think of the Prison Architect Anniversary Editions? Do you think more game developers should release older versions of their games for players to experience? Let us know in the comments below!
