Eight years ago, Wormwood Studios released the point & click adventure Primordia. Now, Wadjet Eye Games has announced that it's publishing Strangeland, a brand-new game from Wormwood Studios coming in 2021.

Strangeland — no relation to the 1998 film — puts players in the midst of a nightmarish carnival. Your day is already going pretty badly, and then you see a golden-haired woman throw herself into a bottomless well. Now, Wadjet Eye Games has announced that it's publishing this upcoming point & click adventure.

Carnivals can get pretty freaky and Wormwood Studios' newest game certainly lives up to that reputation. You're stuck in a mysterious world filled with monsters and metaphors, packed with puzzles for you to solve as you try to unravel the mysteries of this haunting, otherworldly dimension.

One might note that it's been a fair few years since Primordia launched — that came game to our computers all the way back in 2012. Wormwood Studios says that it's been working on this game in the time since then, ultimately spending thousands of hours on developing a brand-new title. Described as a "cabinet of curiosities," this is a game that point & click fans should probably check out.

"[...]Strangeland is as personal a game as I can imagine making," the developer said in a news post on the game's Steam Community page. "I spent the last weeks annotating its more obscure references, and realized it really is a map from my childhood wonders and fears to adulthood’s responsibility, regret, and recognition. I know Vic drew deeply from the well of his own personal experiences. Further, Dimitrios has achieved things with the engine (Adventure Game Studio) that no one has ever done before, allowing Vic’s surreal imagery to come to life in smooth and seamless way, and he has done through by throwing all of himself into the game’s development."

Strangeland Debuts Point & Click Fun in 2021

Strangeland will be making its way to PC sometime in the first quarter of 2021, although we don't yet have a firm release date just yet. No price has been announced, either. Based on past games published by Wadjet Eye Games, I think it's safe to guess that it will cost somewhere between $9.99–$14.99 or your regional equivalent.

If you love point & click adventures, you'll definitely want to add Strangeland to your wishlist on Steam to get ready for its 2021 release. In the meantime, why not check out Wormwood Studios' classic Primordia or Wadjet Eye Games' newest release Unavowed?
