Today, Bethesda Software has released the requirements for the PC and Console versions of Prey, which is set to be released on May 5th, 2017.

Interestingly, the PC system requirements are not as intensive as one might think. The minimum requirements require an Intel i5-2400 or an AMD FX-8320, while a GTX 660 2GB and an AMD Radeon 7850 2GB are required, (which are all over five years old) although supposedly 8GB of Ram is needed.

The recommended requirements necessitate an Intel i7-2600K or an AMD FX-8350 CPU, which again is fairly old. A GTX 970 4GB or an AMD R9 290 4GB is called for as well, which is fairly recent but also not that demanding. One could buy a relatively cheap GTX 1060 or an AMD 580 and be in the clear.

However, the recommended settings call for 16 GB of RAM, which is quite high. We'll see if it actually needs it when it comes out.

The PC Advanced Settings are fairly linear. Object Detail, Shadow Quality, Texture Quality, Anisotropic Filtering, Anti-Aliasing, Horizontal Field of View, Screen Space Directional Occlusion, and Screen Space Reflections are all things that are expected of any PC title that isn't half-baked. It's still a welcome sight to see though.

Bethesda also released the achievements list for their upcoming title. For those who want to know the achievements list, be sure to go here.

For console players, the PS4 will require around 42 GB of free space, while the Xbox One will require 38 GB of free space for Prey. There will be a Day One patch, but that has already been added to the amount of free space that will be needed.

Prey is available this weekend for a one hour demo on both PlayStation 4 (affiliate) and Xbox One (affiliate), but that Demo is not available on PC. If you want to pick it up on PC despite that and the launch issues Dishonored 2 had, you can get it for 15% off from Green Man Gaming (affiliate).

A very unflattering picture of my tired face.
