E3 2016 General Preview Image

Proceeding much like the intro of the Gorillaz song Dare, E3 is coming up. The first press conferences will be coming this Sunday, and the E3 floor will swing wide open this coming Tuesday. Today might not have been as exciting in E3 related news as other days, but we've got a number of interesting rumors and trailers released to us today. A number of our intrepid TechRaptor writers also made a number of predictions. without further delay, let's get right into it, shall we?

First off, a few of our writers made some predictions on the Bethesda, Microsoft, and EA press conferences.  With EA, we're expecting news on Mass Effect Andromeda, Battlefield 1, Titanfall 2, Unravel, and a few others to be presented.  With Bethesda, whose already had a good year, we're reasonably expecting Dishonored 2 to make an appearance on top of the already known Fallout 4 DLC.  Microsoft had a strong showing last year and we're expecting them to follow up with more information on Gears of War 4 and a few others.  Speaking of EA, they recently announced an initiative to give over one million dollars to various charities called Play to Give.

Next, we have an announcement that another entry has been made in the long list of open world survival titles on Steam's early access, Conan Exiles.  This 13th of September, you can roll the dice to give the title a shot, if you think the concept of features being added over the course of a year to official release sounds good.  If open world survival isn't your thing but VR is, TechRaptor covered two PSVR titles.  The first one is Moto Racer 4, a motocross racing game.  The second is a VR puzzle game named Statik, developed by an independent Swedish game studio called Tarsier Studios, whose resume includes DLC for LittleBigPlanet.

Next up, we found out that Lego Dimensions is getting expansions over a whole new version of the game.  Expansion packs known as "Story Packs", which contain 6 missions which tend to follow the movie the pack is based on, will be released at certain intervals.  The first one confirmed is based on the new Ghostbusters film which will hit stores on September 27th.  Also new are Team Packs, which will contain new playable characters.  Also on tap for Lego Dimensions is a trailer released by WB Games just today.

Next up, we have Mafia III getting a teaser trailer.  Mafia III has you step into the shoes of Lincoln Clay, a Vietnam War veteran hellbent on creating a crime syndicate to rival the Italian Mob.  2K will be showcasing Mafia III at E3 2016 with a playable demo.  Hard to believe it's already been six years since the release of Mafia II, isn't it?

Harmonix, a title coming to PlayStation 4 and utilizing PSVR also released a trailer todayHarmonix promises to enhance the music within a player's PS4 library.  Utilizing 4 different environments, players can see their music come to life with visualizations pulsing with the current music track in the background.  A player can interact with the environments by drawing pulsing lines on an Easel environment, placing dancing robots in a Dance Party scenario and enjoying the slices of pie available at the refreshments table, or simply relax on a surreal Alien Beach.

Cuphead, a retro animation styled run and gun platformer, got a gameplay trailer.  If you ever felt that retro-styled platformers were going the wrong way in terms of graphics, Cuphead might have your fix with its detailed graphics done with a traditional hand drawn style, hearkening back to the golden age of TV animation.  Formerly, Cuphead was more of a boss rush game, but the gameplay reveal trailer has shown that there is more to the game than initially shown.

Closing out, we got two rumors, courtesy of posting gaffes at online retailers.  The first one is a rumor that the sequel troubled Crash Bandicoot will be coming to Skylanders in a PS4 exclusive "Imaginators Starter Pack".  The rumor is circling courtesy of a Singapore-based retailer named Qisahn having a listing for the pack in question.  Despite this not being a major retailer, the fact we have found out a multitude of things through random retailers, such as the changing of a class name in Bravely Second, there might be some credit to this leak.

Our second rumor is sourced from none other than a listing on Amazon: Halo 3 is probably getting an HD remaster on Xbox One.  This leak comes from an advertisement within Amazon showing alternate box art for Halo 3 on a Xbox One case. Amazon leaks have typically been credible, but we will likely see what this turns into down the line.
