Praetorians HD

Are you ready for a pair of remastered RTS classics? Kalypso has announced when you can get your hands on both Praetorians HD and Commandos 2 HD, and it's soon.

Both games will be available on PC on January 24th, 2020. You can get them individually, or bundled together as a slightly cheaper two-pack. However, were you to preorder them on the Kalypso Store, you'll also get access to both game's closed betas. The betas, which will start on December 13th, 2019, will include quite a bit of content. Both will include completely new tutorials and access to the full campaigns and skirmish missions. Additionally, the Praetorians HD beta will include the full multiplayer component. Ultimately, it seems this is more early access to both games, but bug fixes and improvements will come over time.

If you haven't heard of either game, both are RTS classics. Praetorians is a classic RTS that launched in 2003. It takes place in the Roman empire, with you either playing as the Gauls, the Egyptians, or the Romans themselves. Units have various formations they can take, helping protect them from attacks or letting them fight more effectively. Commandos 2, originally launched in 2001, takes place during World War 2 and has you controlling a small group of, well, commandos. They drop behind enemy lines and need to use various special abilities to take out Nazis, preferably with stealth. Maybe a bit of explosion for fun.

Praetorians HD and Commandos 2 HD will both launch on January 24th, 2020, on PC. PlayStation 4 and Xbox One ports of both games, along with a Nintendo Switch port of Commandos 2 HD, will launch later in the year.

How do you feel about these two remasters? Going to grab them? Is either of them your favorite game? Let us know in the comments below!
