Skater XL Update 0.2.0.0B is here and it's bringing some new tools to your skateboarding kit.

If you happen to be unfamiliar with Skater XL, it's a physics-based skateboarding game that's currently in development for PC. It's been in the works for about a year now, and the developers have unveiled a brand-new update with some cool new features. Check out this newly-launched trailer to see some of the new features in action:

Some of the new goodies arriving in the latest Skater XL Update focus on various tiny changes to the game's graphics in an effort to improve the overall look. Other changes focus on beefing up other areas like the game's replay system.

Of course, that's not all that's arriving in this update! The devs have added in a couple of fun new things for players to do to make your gameplay experience much more fun.

What Are the New Features in Skater XL Update 0.2.0.0B?

As the Steam Community announcement for this patch states, three major new features have been added to Skater XL in this patch:

Powerslides

Much like a muscle car in a Michael Bay movie, you can now powerslide your skateboard. It's exactly what it sounds like — you slide sideways. It can be used to reduce your speed or otherwise mix up your combos.

Reverts

Reverts are 180-degree spins that are usually added on after another trick is completed. Tony Hawk's Pro Skater fans will be familiar with the revert as it was the most common way to chain together long combos after coming down off of a ramp.

New Animations

Skater XL is a physics-based game aiming for realism. Animations are very important in such an endeavor, and that's why the devs have come out with some new ones. Two of the examples show much more player movement on the grinding, providing for a more realistic representation of skating.

These are the big additions, but they're far from the only thing added to Skater XL in this patch. You can read the full Steam Community announcement for all the details. If this looks like the sort of game you'd love to play, you can buy it on Steam for $19.99 or your regional equivalent, or you can simply add it to your wishlist.
