Post-apocalyptic philosophical RPG Broken Roads has been delayed until 2023, and though this may feel like bad news there is an upside as well. Versus Evil has decided to add the Australian RPG to their catalog of RPGs, which includes several highly acclaimed games.

Broken Roads is a heavily story-driven RPG that takes place in a desolate and barren version of Australia in the future. Offering nearly endless development options for character customization due to the game being classless, it also adds a very interesting feature; A moral compass. Players of the game will soon realize that every action will have a reaction, whether it be negative or positive, making the choices you make throughout the dialogue extremely important. Another really cool aspect of this game is that all of the locations are authentic representations of places the team has visited in the past.

Alongside the Broken Roads delay, which may seem like bad news, comes a light at the end of the tunnel for the developers. Highly acclaimed Indie games publisher, Versus Evil, has added Broken Roads to their catalog and announced that they will be publishing the game with indie development studio Drop Bear Bytes. Leading the team are Colin McComb who has helped create games like Fallout 2, and Planescape: Torment, and Leanne Taylor-Giles who worked on titles such as Torment: Tides of Numenera, meaning Broken Roads has some veteran RPG hands in charge, who are used to narratively driven RPGs. McComb is the Creative Lead for Broken Roads, while Taylor-Giles is the Narrative Directive.

This upcoming RPG could be a whole different take on life in Australia, as we may not recognize what we know from Dinkuman adventure RPG based within the lovely scenery of the Outback that was released earlier this year.

More so, Steve Escalante, the General Manager of Versus Evil, made a statement regarding their new addition of the Aussie RPG, where he says,

"Versus Evil has a history of partnering with some of the best creatives in the industry and publishing highly engaging RPG titles enriched with deep narratives and killer visuals. Drop Bear Bytes have a clear vision and a collective talent that will bring an exciting addition to the Versus Evil RPG family of published titles. Fans of games like Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire and Disco Elysium will definitely want this on their wishlist."

It was also announced that Broken Roads will also be in attendance at Gamescom next week to allow gamers to see the most updated version of the game closer than ever before.
