Gamers have already sunken their teeth into Lost Ark to see what it has to offer. With 1.5 million Founders Packs sold -- which granted players a few days early access in this MMOARPG -- servers are inundated with an extraordinary amount of players. With the free-to-play launch coming on Friday, Smilegate and Amazon are taking some proactive measures to assure a smooth transition.
Today, Smilegate and Amazon announced an already-implemented update which restricts new players from creating characters on select, highly populated servers. This means those without any existing character on one of these servers is restricted from creating toon for the "foreseeable future." The announcement provided a list of servers with the block including:
NA West
- Mari
- Valtan
NA East
- Azena
- Una
- Regulus
- Avesta
EU Central
- Kadan
- Trixion
- Thirain
- Zinnervale
- Asta
These severs were seeing the most common occurrences of queue times, requiring many to wait in line in order to jump into the Lost Ark game world. Notably, the NA East servers experiencing this block is home to several streamers like Asmongold, which draws in crowds. However, despite attempts to stem the tide, some players are upset, as this creates a void where individuals that are free-to-play are prevented from playing with friends on these popular servers. As of right now, there's no comment on if players may receive an eventual server transfer, which is something many have requested. Amazon's New World eventually added this ability, though this was weeks after its launch.
Are More Lost Ark Servers On The Way?
In addition to this block on current, popular servers, the Lost Ark team is also adding additional ones ahead of the Friday launch. These servers are the following:
EU Central
- Beatrice
NA East
- Elzowin
More servers are said to be added tomorrow. While this will most likely alleviate some problems, there will still likely be queue times and other server issues. As usual, expect more issues to arise once launch is initiated. Meanwhile, Lost Ark's team is fixing a nasty exploit which allowed a small percentage of players to duplicate their premium Founder's Packs, granting them more in-game items which may put them ahead of other players. They are now in the process of mending this problem by taking away the duped items, and no disciplinary action was announced.
