Chaotic bullet hell roguelite Vampire Survivors has proven to be a runaway success, and developer Poncle is far from done with its bloodsucking childe of the night. The studio has teased more Vampire Survivors DLC soon, as well as revealing more info about the game's upcoming engine change.
This news comes via Vampire Survivors' 2022 end-of-year roundup on Steam. There, Poncle shares its appreciation for the Vampire Survivors community, as well as its disbelief that the game has ended up on "multiple 2022 GOTY lists" and won a Golden Joystick award. Sadly, the studio also says the game won't be making its way to Teslas anytime soon. Looks like that Steam integration is going to waste after all, eh?
According to Poncle, the Legacy of the Moonspell DLC, which was released last month, has been a big hit. As a result, the studio is planning more DLC in which the Director will "offer to take the survivors to yet another world in search for the vampire". Sounds like you'll be getting more Vampire Survivors content before too long.
Poncle also gives an update on the new Vampire Survivors engine, which the console and mobile versions of the game are running on. The original plan was to offer said engine on PC alongside the original, but Poncle ran out of time to do so, choosing instead to implement the engine on the mobile and console editions.
As such, Poncle says it'll be working on the new Vampire Survivors engine for PC in early 2023. At first, the plan will be to support both versions of the game, but once the two engines are virtually indistinguishable from one another, work on the old engine will cease. Of course, if you're a casual Vampire Survivors fan, all of this likely won't have too much of an impact on your moment-to-moment gameplay experience.
