The Pokemon Company has announced some of the new features coming to the popular Pokemon TCG Pocket app in future updates, including the ability to trade cards, new booster packs, and more.
In a message on the official Pokemon forums, the dev team behind Pokemon TCG Pocket says that the first big new addition to the game will be the introduction of extra booster packs, which should be implemented "by the end of the year".
Additionally, beginning in January next year, you'll be able to trade "certain cards", and the selection of cards able to be traded will be "gradually expand[ed]". We don't yet know which cards will be available to trade as part of this initial update.
The Pokemon TCG Pocket devs also say they're planning "new features" outside of trading and new booster packs, although naturally, they're remaining cagey regarding exactly what these features are.
We'll get more info about them "as the dates for the addition of these features are finalized", so it sounds like we'll get to know more in the coming months.
If you're not familiar with Pokemon TCG Pocket, it's a mobile app-slash-game that essentially digitalizes the Pokemon trading card game, allowing you to open packs of cards and do battle with your friends from your mobile device.
The game was first announced during a Pokemon Presents showcase back in February and was subsequently released across both Android and iOS devices late last month.
As the app stands, you can currently open two card booster packs at no cost, and you can also take part in "streamlined" battles that emphasize speed and fun over deep strategy. If you're not too familiar with deckbuilding games, an auto-build feature is available to help you out.
Pokemon TCG Pocket is available right now on Android and iOS mobile devices. Stay tuned for more.
