Playing the Pokemon TCG online hasn't always been the best experience. That's precisely why a new app was teased earlier this year; we later learned exactly what we'd get with this new app shortly after the reveal of a new card set for the game. Now, a somewhat unfortunate announcement has been made: the app's launch on desktop is going to be delayed -- and Canadian players will have to wait a while longer to play it on mobile, too.

Here's Why the Pokemon TCG Live Beta Was Delayed

Simply put, the Pokemon TCG Live beta was delayed because the developers need more time. Naturally, they want to ensure that players get the best experience possible and it looks like they're not going to be able to get that done before the year is up.

"To provide Trainers with a more polished experience, the Pokémon TCG Live mobile soft launch in Canada, and global open beta for desktop, have been shifted to 2022," read a Twitter thread from the app's official account. "We’ll have more to share soon on timing for both this testing period and the full launch of Pokémon TCG Live."

Some players may have already received physical cards that feature codes for Pokemon TCG Live. Worry not -- those codes can still be redeemed.

"Additionally, some of you may have recently received code cards with Pokémon TCG Live branding as part of some Pokémon TCG products," the Twitter thread continued. "Though Pokémon TCG Live is not available at this time, please know these cards are still redeemable in Pokémon TCG Online."

You can look forward to Pokemon TCG Live launching its global open beta for desktop sometime next year -- hopefully sooner rather than later. You can learn more about the app on its official website.
