NOTE: The code for Shell Armor Samurott was intended to be released on February 5, 2015. The code was released late.
The last of the fully-evolved Unova starters has been released with its Hidden Ability, and for the first time, the release was worldwide. The serial code for the Shell Armor Samurott event was sent out by e-mail in the Pokemon Trainers' Club Newsletter this morning and will be running on Mystery Gift for owners of Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire until November 30, 2015. Following the Contrary Serperior and Reckless Emboar events, Shell Armor Samurott is the last of the Unova starters to be released in North America. Following the trend for the other two Unova starters, the code for Shell Armor Samurott is "POKEMON503", just like the Japanese release. In case you missed them, the codes for Contrary Serperior and Reckless Emboar are "POKEMON497" and "POKEMON500" respectively. This release leaves only the Johto starters without an official Hidden Ability release.
Shell Armor is an ability that prevents a Pokémon from receiving critical hits. Shell Armor is the, previously unreleased, Hidden Ability for Samurott and its pre-evolutions, Oshawott and Dewott. The ability gives Samurott a bit more wiggle room with its defensive stats, allowing trainers to utilize Samurott's high offensive stats more easily. The event Samurott will be level 50 and come packed with a great moveset: Razor Shell, Hold Back, Confide, and Hydro Pump, so make sure you don't miss out on adding this powerhouse to your team; it's great for breeding, use, or just showing off!
With that, the Hidden Abilities of all three Unova starters have been released worldwide in Nintendo's first multi-region serial code event. The only region whose starters lack an official release for their Hidden Abilities is now Johto, and, with luck, we will see a much needed release for their Hidden Abilities in the near future soon as well!
These three Pokémon will remain available through Mystery Gift for Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire until November 30, 2015, so make sure you grab a copy of Omega Ruby or Alpha Sapphire on Amazon to take advantage of these exclusive event Pokémon before they're gone!
