Today it has been announced that the Pokemon GO Battle League's preseason is ending and that GO's Battle League Season 1 will officially start on Friday, March 13, 2020, at 1:00 PM PDT.
For those who managed to achieve rank 4 or higher will receive a Premium Battle Pass as a part of the end-of-preseason rewards for participating in the preseason. From today at 1 PM PDT until next Friday at 1 PM PDT players will also be able to choose and play within the Great League, Ultra League, and Master League and finish the preseason however they would like.
The Pokemon Battle League itself is a way to encourage people to explore the world around them. They can walk around to gain entry into the GO Battle League, and once they are in they can battle opponents from around the globe in an online matching system and gain ranks if they are any good.
For those in Japan, South Korea, and Italy, in-game events "may vary" until later. This is most likely due to the fact that the Corona Virus, recently rebranded as COVID-19, is currently making its way through all three countries. So, it's probably not the best idea to have people wandering around where they may catch the virus and spread it further, which is a good decision from Nintendo. Let it all die down until later and then introduce the events.
Otherwise, there will be some Legendary and Mythical Pokemon coming to the GO Battle League, with Pokemon such as Darkrai, Altered Forme Giratina, and Thundurus coming as rare reward encounters starting at rank 4. Players will have a chance to earn Darkrai from Friday, March 6, 2020, at 8:00 AM to Monday, March 9, 2020, at 10:00 PM local time, and even potentially catch a shiny Darkrai if they are absurdly lucky.
For Altered Forme Giratina, players will be able to potentially encounter the Pokemon from Friday, March 13, 2020, at 8:00 AM to Monday, March 16, 2020, at 10:00 PM local time and also potentially catch a shiny version.
For the period in between the other two Pokemon, players may be able to catch Thunderus as well, which should keep Pokemon GO players on the lookout.
Pokemon GO's Battle League Season 1 will officially start on Friday, March 13, 2020, at 1:00 PM PDT. For more information, be sure to check out the official announcement.
