The Pokemon Go Twinkling Fantasy event is coming next week, and it's bringing a big addition (literally) in the form of Mega Salamence, who'll be appearing in the game for the first time. Other things to look forward to include increased encounter frequencies for Pokemon like Clefairy and Jigglypuff, as well as event bonuses and more.
Per the official Pokemon Go website, Twinkling Fantasy gets underway next Tuesday and runs until the following Monday. The big new 'mon to find is Mega Salamence, which is making its debut in Mega Raids during the event. If you're lucky, you may even spot a Shiny Mega Salamence, so keep your eye out if you're a collector.
Of course, Mega Salamence isn't all this event is offering. You can also look forward to big event bonuses that will give you twice the XP, a higher Candy XL chance, and extra Candy for catching Pokemon with throws rated Nice or higher. Better start limbering up that throwing arm.

Twinkling Fantasy also brings increased encounter rates for 'mons like Jigglypuff, Clefairy, and Dratini. As you can tell, it's a Dragon and Fairy-themed event, which is also why you might notice certain Dragon and Fairy-type Pokemon making an appearance in snapshots during Twinkling Fantasy's duration.
As ever, you can also look forward to new raids, including a five-star raid for the imposing Legendary Pokemon Zekrom, as well as the aforementioned Mega Raid for Mega Salamence. If you do manage to catch Zekrom during Twinkling Fantasy, it'll know the Fusion Bolt move, which brings 140 power to gym and raid battles and 90 power to trainer battles.
We're currently in the midst of Pokemon Go's ninth season, Mythical Wishes, which focuses largely on Gen 3 Pokemon (although other 'mons, like Vivillon, have also received a spotlight during the season). Other recent additions to the game include the introduction of super small and super huge Pokemon, so it's a good time to hop back into the mobile AR game if you haven't already.
The Pokemon Go Twinkling Fantasy event begins on January 10th at 8am local time. It runs until January 16th at 10pm local time, so you should have plenty of time to hunt for that Mega Salamence. Stay tuned to TechRaptor for more Pokemon Go news.
