Niantic has announced that Gigantamax Pokemon are coming to Pokemon Go later this month, and you'll be able to team up with up to 39 other players to take them down.
In a post on the official Pokemon Go website, Niantic describes Gigantamax Pokemon as the game's "biggest challenges yet". They're stomping their way into the popular mobile RPG starting from the weekend of October 26th-27th.
You'll take on Gigantamax Pokemon via Max Battles, which see players team up in groups of four to battle the giant creatures. At the conclusion of the fight, you'll get the chance to catch the Gigantamax Pokemon you're facing off against.

Taking part in a Max Battle will also allow you to hear a new piece of music inspired by Pokemon Sword and Shield, and it was arranged by none other than longtime series composer Junichi Masuda himself.
When you do manage to take down a Gigantamax Pokemon and catch it for yourself, you'll be able to use Candy and Max Particles to level up your 'mon and unlock new moves, just like with Dynamax Pokemon.
Each Gigantamax Pokemon is capable of learning "up to three Max Moves: a unique attack, Max Spirit, and Max Guard".
As with the mainline Pokemon games, Gigantamax Pokemon have a unique G-Max move they can use at the start of battle, and it "may not be the same type as [the Pokemon's] Fast Attack", according to Niantic. Better strategize accordingly.
This new Pokemon Go announcement comes against the backdrop of a massive leak that appeared over the weekend, with tons of sprites, screenshots, and other information about past and future Pokemon games now widely available across the internet.
Pokemon Go is available to download right now on Android and iOS. Gigantamax Pokemon will be available in the game starting from October 26th.
