The Pokemon Go Fest 2021 start date has been locked in for Summer 2021, although there's still a lot we don't know about this upcoming celebration of Niantic's mobile game.
As you probably know, Pokemon Go is an augmented reality game for mobile devices that has players traveling around the real world to catch adorable monsters. Unfortunately, last year was a little bit rougher than usual for people going outdoors, so the game had to make some adaptations to its rules to allow people to keep playing.
Naturally, last year's Pokemon Go Fest made similar accommodations — 2020's event was completely reimagined as made into a virtual format instead of the in-person event that some players got to experience in previous years.
Now, Pokemon Go Fest 2021 has been announced and it's all set to launch later this summer. Once again, players will work together to complete challenges, unlock cool rewards, and battle the nefarious Team Rocket. That's pretty much par for the course — and unfortunately, that's about all we know about this year's event for now.
When is the Pokemon Go Fest 2021 Start Date?
The Pokemon Go Fest 2021 start date will be July 17, 2021. The event will last for the weekend of July 17–18, 2021. The biggest question so far is this: is it going to be an in-person experience or a virtual event?

While the pandemic has certainly been waning in the west and more people are getting vaccinated, Niantic and local governments might not want to take any risks with a big, in-person event. That said, this also happens to be the 25th anniverasry of Pokemon and the 5th anniversary of Pokemon Go — that's certainly worth throwing a big bash.
