Pokemon Pikachu Valentine's Day Plushie Chocolates

The Pokemon Center in Japan just made a brand new Pikachu set perfect for Valentine's Day available to fans of the popular franchise.

The set includes an adorable Pikachu plushie and a box of chocolates by the well-known Kobe-based confectionery company Morozoff. The box comes with four almond chocolates, three pralines, and two raspberry chocolates.

It's available on the Japanese Pokemon Center website for 4,290 yen, which translates approximately into $32. Update: Actually, I lied. It was available, as it's already sold out. At the moment it's unknown whether more stock will be put for sale before Valentine's Day.

Funnily, the website describes it as "recommended not only as a gift, but also as a treat for yourself." You can see what every item looks like in the gallery below.

The timing shouldn't surprise you. Despite the fact that we're over a month away from Valentine's Day, Japan is always like this with holidays. Immediately after New Year, stores are full of items to celebrate Valentine's Day, on February 15 it's Easter's turn, then we move on to the summer celebrations, on September 1 you already start to see Halloween stuff, and right after Halloween, it's all about Christmas. Of course, everything is celebrated in the most consumeristic ways humans can conceive.

The choice of chocolate as part of this set is also unsurprising. Japanese people love to gift chocolate on Valentine's Day. Usually, you'll see ladies gifting sweet chocolate treats to their significant others on February 14, then the dudes are required to give back on March 14, a made-up celebration named White Day. It's a massive and extremely profitable business for local confectionery manufacturers.

In the meanwhile, if you're more interested in games, Pokemon Scarlet & Violet is currently available exclusively for Nintendo Switch, albeit its glitches and bugs may not be as sweet as the chocolates and adorable as this Pikachu plushie.
