Bidoof Day

Apparently The Pokemon Company thinks Canada is known for just one thing, because July 1 is now Bidoof Day, which means that throughout the week you'll be able to celebrate Bidoof. We're beaver country, Yay?

Check out the tweet below:

Bidoof Breakout Event

If you're a heretic and want to celebrate Bidoof in all of its... glory, you'll be able to capture Shiny Bidoof (who is making its debut) and find the Pokemon more often in the wild from Friday, June 25, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. to Thursday, July 1, 2021, at 8:00 p.m. local time on Pokemon GO

On certain days of the event you'll also be able to find a Bidoof that knows moves that it shouldn't know:

  • Thunderbolt: From Sunday, June 27, 2021, at 12:00 a.m. to Monday, June 28, 2021, at 11:59 p.m. local time
  • Ice Beam: From Tuesday, June 29, 2021, at 12:00 a.m. to Wednesday, June 30, 2021, at 11:59 p.m. local time

During this time if you evolve Bidoof to Bibarel during this period it will know Hyper Beam. Additionally, on Bidoof Day (July 1st, if you forgot), you'll be able to use Charged Move TM to have your Bidoofs learn any of the time-limited moves Shadow Ball, Thunderbolt, or Ice Beam. In the lead-up to, and through the Bidoof Day celebrations, Pokemon Go players will also get bonus XP for catch Pokemon.

Pokemon Go Bidoof Day Event

If you're an unlucky soul and you never got to capture a special Bidoof, you'll be able to do so from Thursday, July 1, 2021, from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. local time. Bidoof during this time will be able to use a Charged TM to learn Ice Beam, Shadow Ball, or Thunderbolt. As for those caught during this time they will know the fighting move Supernatural. After the event, you'll need to use Elite Charged TMs to teach Bidoofs any of these moves.

During this event, Team GO Rocket will have even more Bidoofs up in their balloons, giving you a chance to get Shadow Bidoof. There'll be a Special Research event available, with decisions to make for the first time ever that impact some of your event experience, though at the end you will be able to earn an exclusive Bidoof hat avatar item. For PVP players, there'll be the Bidoof Cup available, where you can fight Bidoof vs Bidoof... and nothing else. You can also challenge Bidoof in one-star, three-star, and even five-star Raid Battles and possibly find a Shiny Bidoof. It's also important to note that you won't be able to complete Mega Raids during this time. Finally, the 4x catch experience will continue during the day from the Bidoof Breakout experience.

Quick Take

Now, as a Canadian, I am outraged by this choice. I mean, sure, choose July 1 as a celebration day (it is an awesome day after all), but to choose a Bidoof? What? Why couldn't they choose a Charizard or a Blastoise or even a *shudder* Ivysaur? I'd even take a Pidgeot for crying out loud. A Bidoof for Canada Day is an insult, and every Canadian reading this should make their voices heard by demanding satisfaction for such a lowly Pokemon representing Canada. Basically, Bidoof can goof somewhere elseoof.
