Yooka-Laylee developer Playtonic has announced a new publishing label. Playtonic Friends was set up with the goal of bringing new games and developers to the fore. The new publisher has also announced the first three studios with which it will be working.

What can we expect from the Playtonic publishing label?

According to a Playtonic press release, the new publishing arm is intended to "bring scores of fresh, creative, and compelling games to the market" in the coming years. It was set up to mark the studio's sixth birthday, which it celebrates this year, having been established back in 2015. To mark the occasion, the British studio has created a rather fun little video starring composer Grant Kirkhope, character art director Steve Mayles, and managing director Gavin Price. The video also teases an upcoming game starring Yooka-Laylee villain Capital B. You can check out the video right here:

The first three studios with which Playtonic Friends will be working are Bullets Per Minute developer Awe InteractiveSlime-san studio Fabraz, and OK Golf creator okidokico. We don't yet know what games these studios are working on, but the new publisher says it will be able to reveal more about its upcoming projects "soon". If you're worried that the studio won't be making any more games of its own, you needn't be; Playtonic also says it's working on "its own top-secret new title" that it will also be announcing soon. Presumably, this is the game teased in the video featuring Capital B. We'll bring you more on this, as well as Playtonic Friends' new published titles, as soon as we get it.
