The PlayStation Plus June 2019 games lineup has been announced on the PlayStation Blog, and it consists of three fast-paced games, though in two very different genres. First, you have the popular first-person shooter Borderlands: The Handsome Collection, which includes both Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, plus a buttload of DLC. Then there's Sonic Mania, the 2017 throwback to Sega's iconic 2D sidescrolling roots. It looks like a great bundle that will keep PlayStation players hooked for quite a while.

Borderlands: The Handsome Collection bears that subtitle because of its main antagonist, Handsome Jack. Depending on who you ask he's either the most fun and well-written villain ever, or a thinly veiled caricature of Gearbox Software's CEO Randy Pitchford. Either way, you will face Handsome Jack through the varied landscapes of Pandora with plenty of shootin' and lootin' as you face hordes of fiends and bandits and psychos. It's one of the most frenzied shooter experiences out there, with the cel-shaded art style that makes the series stand out. The collection also has remastered visuals, and you can carry over your save data from PlayStation 3 if you played either game in that platform.

Personally, storywise I prefer the first Borderlands myself, but a lot of fans seem to prefer The Handsome Collection with all those memes and references. Either way, it's a good way to keep you busy until Borderlands 3.

Sonic Mania (Our Review) is the classic 2D sidescroller revived in the 3D age. You can expect virtually the same Sonic experience you had in the 90s, with Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles facing off their old nemesis Dr. Eggman across a series of reimagined classic stages and also brand new ones. Lightning-fast platforming thrills, countless collectibles, hidden areas, and both co-op and competitive multiplayer modes for two players. That's a lot of couch gaming for you and your friends, which is what consoles are best known for.

And if you haven't yet, you can still catch the PlayStation Plus May games What Remains of Edith Finch and Overcooked.
