Sony has announced the PlayStation MENA Hero Project, a new incubator program aimed at finding and supporting developers based in the Middle East and North Africa.

Previous Hero Projects have focused on areas like China and India, but this one focuses on eleven specific countries within the MENA regions, aiming to support companies through "mentorship, training, and project-based investment".

According to Sony, the MENA Hero Project is part of "identifying new and diverse developers worldwide" and showcasing "the most incredible talents" the region has to offer. Looks like we might be about to see a whole lot more games from Middle Eastern and North African developers.

Sony's previous Hero Project initiatives have been focused around China and India.

Here's a full list of the eleven countries that will fall under the purview of the MENA Hero Project.

  • Saudi Arabia
  • United Arab Emirates
  • Bahrain
  • Iraq
  • Kuwait
  • Oman
  • Qatar
  • Jordan
  • Egypt
  • Morocco
  • Tunisia

If you happen to belong to a studio that's from one of these countries and you want to apply for the PlayStation MENA Hero Project, then you can apparently do so via this link.

I should point out that the link doesn't appear to work for me, but that might be because I'm based in the UK, and the link only works for those who are operating from one of the above countries.

We might be about to see a whole lot more games from the MENA region.

Presumably, if you are, you'll find an FAQ that explains the MENA Hero Project further, as well as an application form you can use to put your studio forward for funding and mentorship via the new program.

Of course, it's also possible that the link is just broken right now and that the page will go live at some point in the near future. If that's the case, you might want to bookmark it so that you can check whether it's working later down the line. Stay tuned for more on this and all other things PlayStation.
