In some news I can only describe as not surprising at all, PlayStation Home will be shutting down on the 15th of March,2015.
According to the PlayStation official forums, PlayStation Home will stop publishing new content from November 12th, and after December 3rd will stop players downloading anything. A nice touch from Sony is free content up until the shutdown date for those who still use the service.
PlayStation Home received plentiful updates and redesigns including a major one in 2011. Sony served 19 million PlayStation Home users during this time. I assume a lot of these people were like me, in that they tried it once and thought it was pretty lame. Like Habbo Hotel but with more ads.

PlayStation Home was one of those things that back in 2006 when I got my PlayStation 3 I thought was the future of gaming. All those awesome demos they showed of people meeting up in virtual lobbies to play games was really cool.
When it finally released in 2008 it was lackluster and wasn't adopted by many people. In fact, if I were not to write this news article, chances are you probably had no idea that PlayStation Home was still running. But maybe I'm wrong, do you still use PlayStation Home? Why? Let me know in the comments. Do you think they'll continue the service on PS4? My guess is no.
