PlayStation Experience 2016 - Announcement Recap

The weekend of December 3rd is the weekend that Sony fans are able to get all of the latest news on everything PlayStation during the PlayStation Experience 2016. Today PlayStation held their PlayStation Experience live keynote to show off to the world what they have in store going forward.

Beginning the PlayStation Experience is a trailer of a hooded woman walking through destroyed parts of a city. After getting through a checkpoint the hooded figure continues deeper into the city reaching a red door. Once inside she is directed to the roof having to avoid guards on the way she hides behind corners and on ledges finally reaching a ladder taking her up. Once she reaches the top of the building we see a city on fire and in ruins, after getting in a brief fight with some guards the masked woman removes her mask to reveal Chloe and the new game/standalone expansion in the franchise, Uncharted: The Lost Legacy.

Megaman X and Ryu are next seen teaming up to fight against Ironman and Captain Marvel. The new trailer for Marvel Vs Capcom Infinite also ends with a character cloaked in darkness and a release window of 2017. Debut gameplay footage will appear at the Capcom Cup tonight, Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 is also available today exclusively on PlayStation 4.

WipeOut Omega Collection will be releasing in 2017 combining together WipeOut HD, WipeOut Fury, and WipeOut 2048 all in one bundle for the PlayStation 4.

Destiny's Christmas Event called The Dawning will come to players on the 13th of December. The holiday event will include new quests, weapons, and more as you unwrap your presents. A new Sparrow Racing League will also be available for players giving players new tracks and sparrows to race along.

After it's E3 announcement the Crash Bandicoot HD Trilogy, now known as Crash Bandicoot: N'sane Trilogy had its first gameplay reveal. During the trailer, we get to see gameplay transition between the original PlayStation gameplay to how the games will now look on PlayStation 4. The trilogy will be released in Spring of 2017.

Accompanying a new story trailer for the upcoming horror title Resident Evil VII: Biohazard it was also announced that a final demo will be available for download tonight tonight. There will also be "Banned Footage" DLC available first on PS4.

Continuing with PSVR announcements gameplay is shown for the upcoming Ace Combat 7.

The Last Guardian a highly anticipated game releasing next week also received a new trailer. In it, we see the player character and the guardian experiencing all manner of traps, enemies.

PaRappa the Rapper, Patapon, and Locoroco will be getting remastered editions for the PlayStation 4 with graphical upgrades. The demo of PaRappa will also be available to download later today. The remastered edition will use features such as the DualShock 4 controller as a steady metronome so that you can feel the beat, the DualShock 4 will also be used by Locoroco to move and tilt the world. Japan Studios also announced Knack 2 adding in a co-op feature to the game so you can explore the world together.

A DLC trailer for the upcoming Gravity Rush 2 was shown where players will be able to play as Raven for the first time. You will get to learn more about her back story and powers as you progress through this story. The DLC will be called Another Story The Ark of Time.

Polyphony Digital also showed a trailer for the new Gran Turismo Sport highlighting PS4 Pro features such as 4K resolution and HDR compatability as well as the ability to play it using the PlayStation VR. This game will release in 2017.

Ni No Kini II Revenant Kingdom got a new story trailer showing off some cutscenes and brief gameplay including overworld travel and battle in a Colosseum setting. This game will release in 2017.

Gio Corsi takes to the stage to give a lightning round of announcements. Yakuza 6 and Yakuza Kiwami will be coming to the west and have new trailers shown. Danganronpa V3 Killing Harmony also receives a new trailer. It will be coming in 2017 to the PlayStation 4 and the PlayStation Vita. Nier: Automata will be receiving a demo in the store in the upcoming weeks and will have a release date of March 7th. Ys Origin will be coming to PlayStation 4 and Vita in 2017. Dreadnaught, the space shooter, will be making its console debut on PlayStation 4 after gaining popularity on the PC. You can sign up for the closed beta now and it will be arriving 2017. Pyre, from the developers of Transistor, will be coming to PlayStation 4 with both a single and multiplayer head to head mode. Other games that were shown off in a trailer reel include Vane, Absolver which will be coming first to PlayStation 4 with exclusive content, What Remains of Edith Finch, Nex Machina - Death Machine.

Moving onto indie titles a new trailer reel was shown including a variety of titles. A trailer for Let It Die was shown, a game where you aim to work your way through a dungeon while encountering all kinds of foes, Gio announced that it will be available for free for PlayStation 4 owners tonight. Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3, Mother Russia Bleeds, Garou Mark of the Wolves, and Surgeon Simulator VR will also all be available on the PlayStation Store tonight. Gio left the stage with a trailer for Wind Jammers for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita including online multiplayer and ranked matches.

Moving on from indie titles the PlayStation VR is next to talk about an upcoming exclusive title called Star Blood Arena. In this game, you fly around in your space craft and compete in a variety of multiplayer events in 2-4 player rounds. There will also be single player arena challenges. This game will be releasing in the Spring of 2017.

Nioh takes the stage next with a brand new trailer showing off a variety of different landscapes, enemies, and some bosses that you can expect to fight in the full title.

Moving on to MLB The Show the new title gets it's very first trailer after announcing that Ken Griffy Jr. will be featured on the cover of the game. The Show 17 will also have a retro mode where the game will play like an old school baseball game.

Gorilla Games' new title Horizon Zero Dawn reveals new enemies and areas of the world in a new trailer, the trailer is accompanied by a monologue explaining the dangers of the world and that there is no way to be truly safe while exploring and hunting. The full game will be available at the end of February 2017.

The final announcement of the keynote is that while the game is very early in development Naughty Dog wanted to show off a trailer for The Last of Us Part II. We see an older Ellie playing guitar in a run down house in the forest. As she plays a figure walks through the door passing by numerous dead bodies, as he gets to her we see it is Joel. Ellie says that she is "going to find and kill every last one of them."
