Well, as 2014 draws to a close, most of us probably realized that PlanetSide 2's long-awaited PlayStation 4 Beta wasn't coming this year after all.

For the uninitiated, PlanetSide 2 is a Free-To-Play MMO-FPS with massive battles featuring up to 2000 players at once. Players capture control points and try to gain dominion on the world map, where three different factions fight it out across different battlefields. The game has been very popular on PC, where it released back in November 2012 and got a very positive reception.

(You can sign up for the PS4 beta right here or go download the full PC release on Steam right now!)

Originally, PlanetSide 2 was supposed to launch alongside the PlayStation 4 back in November 2013, however as the PlayStation 4 launched, PlanetSide 2 was nowhere to be seen. It has since been pushed back and was expected to release on the 31st of December (Which the wikipedia page still says it will!) however, John Smedley of Sony Online Entertainment, who is part of the development team behind PlanetSide 2, says it isn't so!

So, you'll have to wait a bit longer to get your crosscontinental, massive FPS battles on your PlayStation 4. The beta should be coming around the 13th or 20th of January, and only god knows when the full release of PlanetSide 2 will finally be available on Sony's newest, shiniest console!

PlanetSide 2 Devs have said that the PS4 Version will be exactly like the PC Version but with maxed out settings, though there will be changes to the UI and several other features will be improved upon.

Furthermore, PlanetSide 2 will NOT require an active PSN subscription to play the Free-to-play title.

How long have you been waiting for PlanetSide 2 on PlayStation 4? Will you be signing up for the Beta?
