Planescape Torment Enhanced Edition Metal Hammer

Following the slightly early release of the game's launch trailerPlanescape: Torment: Enhanced Edition has announced a release date of April 11.

Planescape: Torment: Enhanced Edition is exactly what it says on the tin: an enhanced version of the Dungeons & Dragons-based role-playing game originally developed by Interplay. The enhanced edition is being handled by Beamdog, a development team with experience remastering similar games such as Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale. This particular endeavor features the participation of  the original game's Lead Designer Chris Avellone, who has worked with Beamdog to curate content for this new version of the game. The original Planescape: Torment was released in 1999.

The enhanced edition of the game features a number of improvements. To start, it will support 4K resolution, a huge increase from the original's native resolution of 640 x 480. The soundtrack has been remastered and support for additional languages such as French and German are available. UI enhancements such as tab highlighting, a combat log, quickloot, and others have been added to give the game a smoother, more modern experience. Critically, players looking for a more retro experience will be able to turn off the new features added in this version if they so desire.

If you're like to pre-order Planescape: Torment: Enhanced Edition, you can get it DRM-free on GOG.com [Affiliate Link] or directly from the developer for $19.99 or your regional equivalent. You can also add it to your wishlist on Steam. Android & iOS versions of the game are on their way but not yet available. You can also grab the original Planescape: Torment DRM-free on GOG.com [Affiliate Link] for $9.99 or your regional equivalent.
