Captain Contraband

Every now and then, an indie title bursts into the scene with an ambitious mix of genres that presents players with a new and fresh experience. Developer and publisher  Zweihander Games revealed their latest title, Captain Contraband.

The game offers a unique top-down roguelike experience in a pirate-themed world. Players take control of their own ship as they trade, fight, and venture through the dangerous waters. Not only will you build your own empire, you have to gather enough Unholy Sacraments resources to fight the fleet of the undead. Funnel your income to upgrading your ship to fight them off and protect the world from their dark and evil rule.

Madison Williams, Founder & Lead Programmer of Zweihänder Games, talked more on the studio's staff and their previous jobs, emphasizing how Captain Contraband is the result of their passion to add something new to the gaming industry. He continued to tease the unpredictability of events throughout your journey, which will always keep you on the edge of your seat, or your helm for accuracy.

Before Captain Contraband, we were all just slowly wasting away at normal desk jobs. We still do that, but now we also get to work on a cool pirate game! Don't let the quaint top-down cartography-style visuals fool you: When your ship sinks, that's it. To make it to the end alive, you'll need a healthy mix of caution, luck, risk, and skill with your naval cannons. Whether you believe in the gods of commerce or the gods of the deep, our game is sure to throw some surprises your way!

Captain Contraband doesn't have a set release date yet, but it is expected to arrive on Steam in Q3 2020. As of the time of writing, there are no news on the price of the game at release.
