Developer LabZero Games will soon start pre-orders for physical copies of Skullgirls: 2nd Encore for both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita. Being sold through a partnership with Limited Run Games, both versions will retail for $39.99 throughout the pre-order period and will come with the game, a slip case, a special 19 track Soundtrack CD, and a 56 page full color manual. Pre-orders will start on Halloween and continue for 2 weeks, at which point no more will be sold. Copies are estimated to ship out in January. Pictures showcasing what comes with either version of the game were shared earlier today on the official Skullgirls Twitter account (embedded below).

Although this is the first time that Skullgirls will receive a physical release in the West, earlier this year the company teamed up with Arc System Works, the developers of the popular BlazBlue and Guilty Gear fighting game series, to release the game in Japan, complete with both a standard physical release, as well as a special "Skull Heart Box" Limited Edition. This same release also went on to see a wider release in Asia.

Speaking of the Japanese release, there is some fine print regarding the upcoming western release for the title. If overall pre-orders for this limited release manage to breach 10k sales, then this version will come with the Japanese voices for the story mode. As further explained on Twitter, due to licensing for the voices costing so much, the team can only justify including it for free if they manage to sell enough copies of the physical release to cover said costs.

Like every other PlayStation Vita or PlayStation 4 release, these physical copies will be region-free, meaning that players from both North America and Europe will be able to play the game on their systems of choice with little to no hassle.

Will you be picking up the physical release for Skullgirls: 2nd Encore?
