The upcoming strategy game Phoenix Point has been delayed yet again. While fans may be upset to see Phoenix Point delayed, the developers are holding off on release for good reason — and backers are going to be getting something on the game's original release date.
Why was Phoenix Point delayed? Simply put, the developers need more time to get the job done right as noted in a forum post:
While the development team is working hard, and Phoenix Point is shaping up really well, we now know we’re going to need more time to get it to meet our very high standards. As you probably know, Snapshot has a commitment to keep crunch to a minimum – and that is a commitment we take very seriously. Therefore, because we know we have more work than we have time, we will be delaying the release of game from September 3, 2019 to December, 2019.This isn't the first delay for the game, either — the intended release date for Phoenix Point was originally pushed back to September way back in February 2019. Unfortunately, it seems like the developers are going to need another couple of months to get the development done.
It's not all bad news, though! While regular folks who were hoping to buy this upcoming title on the Epic Games Store (where it was announced as an exclusive earlier this year) will have to wait, Kickstarter backers are still going to have something to play on the original release date of September 3, 2019. Backer Build 5 will be launching on that date and give people who supported the game in its crowdfunding campaign something to play while they wait the extra two to three months for the finished version to come out.
