Kinetic Games has announced that its spooky multiplayer ghost-hunting horror game Phasmophobia has crossed another major sales milestone on consoles.

Per a press release, Phasmophobia has now passed the three million sales mark on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, on which the game was released late last year. As a reminder, Phasmophobia stood at a million sales on console back in December, so it's managed to pick up another two million in the intervening months.

It's been a long road for Phasmophobia's console release, too. Console versions of the game were originally set to launch in August 2023, but following a fire at Kinetic Games' offices, the game was delayed on consoles until October that year.

Phasmophobia's console versions have sold three million copies between them.

Naturally, the game didn't manage to hit that deadline, and the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions of Phasmophobia were delayed once again, with a release window of 2024 eventually being set.

Following that, it was confirmed during the October 2024 Xbox Partner Preview that Phasmophobia would land on Xbox Series X|S (as well as PS5, naturally) on October 24th, and after over a year of waiting, that is indeed when the console versions of the game were released.

If you're wondering exactly what Phasmophobia is, it's a co-op horror game in which you and your friends must work together in order to identify spirits that are haunting a number of different locations.

To help you in your task, you'll have access to a range of ghost-hunting equipment, and you'll have to use it in order to gather evidence of whatever's haunting the map you and your team are currently exploring.

Back in February, Kinetic outlined its plans for Phasmophobia throughout 2025, and the game is getting lots of changes this year, including overhauled player characters, a brand new map, and more.

There's no mention of when the game's 1.0 release will be coming, but in the meantime, you can check out Phasmophobia right now on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
