After it was announced last week that Final Fantasy XV would be delayed until November, details have emerged that Persona 5 has experienced a significant boost in pre-order sales.

In a news article from Persona Central, the upcoming title previously sat between 11th - 15th place in Amazon Japan's 'Best Sellers' rankings. To date, Persona 5 is now listed first place in Amazon Japan's charts, with a previous 'Movers and Shakers' ranking noting a 450% boost between August 14th and 15th.

Funny enough, there were rumors that the Final Fantasy XV delay might've been related to the release of Persona 5. In a survey from Square Enix, the company included a question about whether you’d prefer to buy Persona 5 or Final Fantasy XV; which followed up with one more asking to clarify on why they would prefer Persona 5. Hard to say if this survey had any impact on of their reasons, as the results of that question were never published.

It might be worth noting that in the past two weeks, Atlus has sent out multiple gameplay videos and trailers detailing the upcoming title. Released on August 11th and 13th, the trailers covered several aspects within the title, including the new social link structure within Persona 5

Persona 5 is the latest addition to the widely popular Shin Megami Tensei spinoff series. Players assume the role of an unnamed protagonist, who transfers to Tokyo following his probation. At Shujin High School, the protagonist forms a vigilante group called the “Phantom Thieves of Hearts” with classmate Ryuji Sakamoto and the cat-like Morgana. Throughout the game, players will slowly recruit other students into the group, unlocking their “Personas” along the way.

Persona 5 will release in Japan on September 15, 2016, for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4. A worldwide release is set for Europe, North America, and Australia on February 14, 2017. All three regions are said to include the same special editions.
