Yosuke Persona 4 Romance

Persona 4 Golden was released on PC earlier this year, and longtime fans of the Shin Megami Tensei series were happy to have one of their favorite titles from the PlayStation 2 era on hand again, especially this updated PlayStation Vita version of the game. Despite some hiccups here and there, Persona 4 still remains a popular game, and with that popularity comes the introduction of new mods, some of which are attempting to restore reportedly lost content to the title.

One such case is an unexpected romance involve your male teammate Yousuke. Yep, a gay romance in Persona 4 that no one knew about, until it was discovered that he had lines admitting his affection to the player character in the PC release.

Considering the amount of queer subtext in Persona 4, especially in regards to characters like Kanji Tatsumi and Naoto Shirogane, it is actually not that surprising a gay romance would have been possible. Persona 4 was lauded in the late 2000s for being fairly inclusive, something its own series has done previously with titles like Persona 2: Innocent Sin. Though it seems quaint in comparison today, the discovery of the dialogue in the game's files adds a whole new dimension to Persona 4, one that one modder has restored.

The mod in question is the Yosuke Romance mod, which is being worked on by modder MadMax1960. The mod has been in production since the game launched during the summer, but is now nearly complete with the latest update coming a few days ago.

According to MadMax, the goal is to implement a full social link arc, which has now been completed. The next step for development on the mod would be making sure it is compatible with other mods for Persona 4, along with extra scenes and details across a full playthrough. There is also a possibility for fully customizable scenes being implemented as well.

As it stands, version 1.0 of the mod, with the content mentioned above released recently and can be downloaded from the site. The update is planned to be officially released around December 25th, giving players a chance to engage in a part of Persona 4 that no one knew was possible at the time.
