Atlus has revealed that a Persona 3 remake is at the top of fans' wishlists when it comes to remaking old-school Atlus RPGs, surprising precisely nobody. The list of most wanted remakes is mostly dominated by Shin Megami Tensei games, with a single nod to another Atlus dungeon-crawling franchise.
So, Atlus fans want a Persona 3 remake, eh?
That's right. During a recent Atlus livestream, the company revealed the results of a recent poll in which it asked fans which of its games they'd most like to see remade. As you would expect, a Persona 3 remake topped the list, with Persona 2 following very closely behind. The rest of the list was also similarly dominated by Shin Megami Tensei games, with Revelations: Persona (the first Persona game) in third place and Persona 4 in fourth. You can see the full list right here (thanks, Gematsu).

Why a Persona 3 remake would be preferable to a port
It's a sentiment that we've echoed here at TechRaptor. Here's what we said in our rundown of what the perfect Persona 3 remaster would look like.
Maybe Atlus will completely pull the rug from under us and offer a complete Persona 3 experience in the near future. As it stands, however, it’s sadly more likely that it’ll go the easy route and just release a relatively untouched Persona 3 Portable. It’d still be worth the purchase, but it would also be a harsh reminder that, unlike its successors, there is still no true Persona 3 experience.
Those words were written in December 2021, quite a while before Atlus announced the upcoming re-releases of Persona 3 Portable, 4 Golden, and 5 Royal on non-PlayStation platforms. They ended up ringing true; what we're getting later this year is a remaster of Persona 3 Portable, which won't be the "perfect" Persona 3 remake that Atlus fans likely want. Portable is far from the definitive version of Persona 3, lacking as it does fully explorable environments and the extra content added in the PlayStation 2's Persona 3: FES. It's still Persona 3, which is great, but it doesn't really count as the full remake we'd ideally want. Still, maybe this new fan survey will demonstrate to Atlus that there's real demand for a proper Persona 3 remake and not just a port.
