At the PC Gaming Show we had Bohemia Interactive show up, the developers of games like ARMA, to announce their new game: Ylands. The trailer opened with a pirate ship, talking about the mother of all storms. The ship crashes and the captain is stranded on an island. He's attacked by a pig, learns how to craft, and began to make a home. Eventually he builds a boat to leave. The scene then cuts to various adventures the captain is having, including a horse chase, a automobile race, and a castle siege.

After this creative director Ales Ulm came on stage to talk about how it was a sandbox survival game. He talked about how the islands were supposed to be special for each player to make. The game will be online so people can play with each other. There's a mod editor that will be part of the game, to make modding easy for the players. You can use the editor to prototype your mods beforehand as well. You will also be exploring, crafting, figuring things out, and generally building a world with your friends.

Ylands is available as an alpha if you want to try it right now, by signing up on the game's website. The game will also be coming to Steam Early Access.
