PC Dark Souls Owners Can Get Dark Souls Remastered Half Off

FromSoftware has recently announced that those who own Dark Souls: Prepare to Die will be receiving an upgrade to Dark Souls Remastered at a discounted price, and have opened up pre-orders to those planning on experiencing the latest installment on all other platforms.

Dark Souls: Prepare to Die arrived on Steam in 2012, featuring both the base game and the Artorias of the Abyss DLC pack in a single bundle. Beginning May 8, this version will be delisted and replaced with Dark Souls Remastered, so if you're planning on getting it before the remaster is released, make sure to do so before that date. The game will be accessible as usual after this date for those who have it in their library, and the multiplayer features will not be affected.

Although FromSoftware initially stated that there wouldn't be a discount for those who previously owned a copy of the original, publisher Bandai Namco has clarified that PC owners will receive a 50% discount. This discount will drop the base price of $39.99 down to $20. Those playing on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, or Nintendo Switch can purchase it for its usual base cost, and begin sign-ups for pre-orders now. Dark Souls Remastered is set to release on May 25 across all platforms apart from Nintendo Switch, which was delayed to this summer.

In the meantime, if you're considering whether this iteration piques your interest, be sure to check out the latest trailer below. You'll be able to witness the infamous Belfry Gargoyles in 60fps, and get a good glimpse of Gaping Dragon. Although the changes are subtle, they appear vibrantly realized and offer a new degree of charm to an otherwise notoriously beloved game.
