PAX East

PAX East 2022 has just been confirmed to be a thing, and unlike last year you'll be able to attend the event in person. This year was strictly an online-only affair, but with COVID-19 restrictions beginning to be loosened events such as PAX East (and PAX West this year) are starting to be hosted once again. This isn't reflected everywhere, of course, but generally we're seeing an uptick these types of events, which is great to see.

Still, it's not all sunshine and rainbows for PAX East 2022, especially if you're unvaccinated and you'd like to go. Read on for more info below.

When is PAX East 2022?

PAX East 2022 will take place from April 21-24, 2022. To go to the live event, you'll have to be fully vaccinated and show a vaccine certificate in order to participate in the event. Full "regarding full vaccination status and our verification process will be provided over the next few weeks", but what we know right now is that you'll have to be fully vaccinated through vaccines approved or authorized by the FDA or WHO, and that attendees will be allowed to use their phone or their vaccination card along with a government ID to show that they are fully vaccinated.

Attendees will also have to wear a mask, a policy which applies to costume and cosplays, and people can expect the post-COVID experience with lots of signs, increased sanitization and hygiene, and a general code of conduct so that everyone can enjoy PAX East 2022.

Interestingly, there's a note saying that this is essentially up in the air:

The guidelines in this document are based on information currently available regarding the behavior and characteristics of the COVID-19 virus, public health information and local or state guidelines with respect to large gatherings in any particular community. As more clarity with respect to these variables emerges, it is expected that these guidelines may need to be adjusted accordingly.

So, we'll have to see how exactly PAX East 2022 goes down. April 21-24, 2022 is a long time away, after all, so we'll have to wait and see.
