Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous Season Pass Announced

Just announced is a Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous season pass featuring three pieces of DLC.

For the curious, the season pass includes two story DLCs and a roguelike mode. None of the backer versions include it, although they will be able to purchase it separately once they receive their keys. The first DLC will include new adventures that take place after the main campaign's victory in the Worldwound, where players will leave Golarion behind and use their powers to defend the space-time continuum against immediate collapse. Great Scott, Marty!

The second DLC will give players a brand-new story to parse through, and this time it'll take place during the main campaign as the player will band together with other survivors to reach the last foothold of the crusader forces in the city using its few resources and relying only on your cunning and skill. The third DLC, the roguelike mode, will apparently partially integrate into the main campaign "and offer limitless replayability" according to the developers. We'll see about that.

What are the Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous Preorder and Backer Bonuses?

For Kickstarter backers wondering if they'll be left in the cold, fear not, because you'll be receiving some in-game items and other skins. Want to know what you're getting? Fear not, because I know what you're getting, and you're going to like it, or else.

For those who either backed the game or bought it through the official website, you'll get these exclusives:

  • Owlcat Pet (Owlcat's Feral Instincts provide +2 morale bonus on Perception and Lore (Nature) checks.)

  •  Silver Tongue Amulet (This amulet grants its wearer a +2 competence bonus on Persuasion skill checks.)

  •  Free Dancer's Boots (These boots grant their wearer a +2 competence bonus on saving throws against movement-impairing conditions.)

  •  Exclusive Skins For 3 mountable Animal Companions (Dinosaur, Horse, Smilodon)

This is all in addition to the 4 items that were previously announced for backers during the campaign, bringing it up to 8 items.

As for what else has been announced today, there are a few. For instance, the game has received some visual and tech upgrades. Players will be able to now dismember enemies, survive crazy weather, and let the streets run red with the blood of their enemies--literally.

“We wanted to make the art style darker and more grounded,” says Alexander Mishulin, Creative Director. “So we had to rethink our graphical pipeline, to change the way we work with models, textures, and particle effects.”

It's apparently all thanks due to a new physical-based rendering system, and if you want the full deets you can check it out here in the 4th dev diary:

For those who haven't pre-ordered Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous yet, official pre-orders have opened today. There are three editions of the game that you can pre-purchase, so be sure to check the game out on Steam and see which version of the game strikes your fancy. If you also want to pre-order the Season Pass, that will run you $19.99, with the full game costing you $49.99. That's $70 American greenbacks in total, which isn't cheap these days.

We'll have to see if it's worth it come the release date on September 2, for PC, and later this year for PlayStation and Xbox consoles.

A very unflattering picture of my tired face.
