Today at the Sony PlayStation Live Event at Paris Games Week Sony took the time to announce a stunningly looking game featuring breathtaking visuals by Pixelopus in Concrete Genie. In this game, you play as a boy who is able to bring drawings to life on walls with his chalk and do a lot of various things with them. The animation on it was a showstopper as well as the bright and beautiful use of colors that helped it a lot.
Ash, the boy's name, is the star in this action-adventure title and as you might expect with the premise is an artist. The game controls using the DualShock 4's motion sensor and they have a wild array of different effects you can apply and the developers state that their goal was to allow anyone to be able to paint, even if you are like me among the artistically challenged. In Concrete Genie, Ash has been having issues with bullies, and thus the creations he makes are of particular importance to him, as they are the friends he wished he had.
Set in the nearly abandoned fishing town of Denska, Ash discovers that his magic paint has another impact - it can cleanse pollution from the streets and alleyways. This presumably provides some of the gameplay as you attempt to clean up and brighten the village.
Concrete Genie is being created in Unreal Engine 4 and will be releasing sometime in 2018 with developers Pixelopus (Entwined) promising more information to come
Update: Concrete Genie was delayed until 2019.
