The Paralives Character Creator -- known in-game as the "Paramaker" -- has received substantial improvements over the last year for this upcoming indie competitor to The Sims.

Paralives is one of two upcoming games that will compete in the same space as The Sims (the other being AlterLife). While we haven't heard much from AlterLife since it revealed a trailer earlier this yearParalives has continued to show off its development over the last one and a half years. Check out the latest video that shows off the Paramaker character creator (via PCGamesN)!

The upgraded Paramaker has a lot more options compared to the earlier version that was shown off in May 2020. You'll no longer make changes by pushing and pulling on a Parafolk's body; instead, you will adjust a series of sliders or graphs to fine-tune their look.

That's not the only improvement, though -- the above trailer shows off all of the following features:

  • Equip any outfit regardless of the Parafolk’s gender
  • All of the skin tones!
  • Freehand tattoo placement and scaling
  • Mole placement and scaling
  • Realistic fat and muscle sliders
  • Changeable patterns for some clothes
  • Improved height slider
  • Adam's apple adjustment
  • Heterochromia
  • Various facial and body hair for Parafolks of any gender

Of course, it should be noted that this is still pre-alpha footage. The Paralives Character Creator looks much better compared to last year, but nothing is final until the game actually comes out -- and games can still change after launch anyways.

When is the Paralives Release Date?

Sadly, the Paralives release date has not yet been announced. As with AlterLife, it's currently sitting on a "TBA" launch date.

For now, we'll have to wait however long it takes for Alex Massé and his team to get this game out the door. You can add Paralives to your wishlist on Steam and you can keep up with new developments on its YouTube channel. If you'd like to support the development of this game, you can help out by subscribing to Alex Massé's Patreon starting at $3/month.
