Paradox Interactive has paired with Microsoft to launch a new independent mod platform on Xbox One and PC called, Paradox Mods. The service will give modders easier access to modding both console and PC games across Paradox's lineup, starting with Surviving Mars with a free update already out now. More games from Paradox Interactive will be supported as the year progresses and the service will be working with already established members of the modding community.

The service will launch with over 30 tried and tested mods for Surviving Mars which can be downloaded immediately by logging into your paradox account at the games home screen and going to the mod manager. Some of the mods already featured include things like adding car washes and self-sufficient greenhouses to the red planet.

Paradox Mods will also make it much easier to mod creators to upload their mods to multiple platforms with much less hassle. Use the new system creators will be able to simply upload their mod for each game in a single place and immediately have them available for all users across all platforms.

Modding has been, and remains an important part of the Paradox community. As we have diversified the way we distribute our games, we want to make sure all our players can take part in the creation process, For Surviving Mars, we have worked with mod creators to support Paradox Mods with some of the best mods available, all in one place and downloadable in-game or simply using a web browser.
The announcement is another step towards the ubiquity of mod support on the home consoles, something started with Bethesda's Fallout 4 and Skyrim creation clubs.  It seems like not long before more and more games on the home consoles will be supporting modding in their games.
