A new Paper Mario game is working its way to the Nintendo Switch. Paper Mario: The Origami King will hit Nintendo's hybrid console on July 17th. Expect plenty of paper puns and the Paper Mario series' usual irreverent style.
Princess Peach has invited Mario and Luigi to attend the kingdom's origami festival. Naturally, something appears to have happened to Princess Peach; she looks different, walks differently, and certainly doesn't talk like Peach. Mario and Luigi must team up in order to defeat the Origami Kingdom's self-proclaimed ruler King Olly and save the day. You can check out the trailer for Paper Mario: The Origami King here:
What's new in Paper Mario: The Origami King?
Mario will have plenty of new tools at his disposal in Paper Mario: The Origami King. The big one Nintendo is talking up is called "1000-Fold Arms", which will allow you to stretch, pull apart, and otherwise manipulate the landscape to move forward. You'll also be recruiting a host of new allies and familiar faces, one of whom may or may not be Mario's longstanding nemesis Bowser (spoiler: it totally is).
Paper Mario: The Origami King also boasts an entirely new ring-based battle system that allows you to move enemies around and change their position for maximum damage. You'll need your wits about you to navigate this new dynamic turn-based combat. All this plus a big overworld to explore, plenty of puzzles to solve, and the characteristic Paper Mario sense of humor present and correct.
You'll be able to get your hands on Paper Mario: The Origami King on July 17th. Make sure not to give yourself a papercut.
