Hi-Rez Studios has announced that their game Paladins has become one of the top 10 most played games on Steam according to a news post on the game's official website. Additionally, they will be expanding the Paladins Invitational tournament to include more regions worldwide.

Paladins is a team-based shooter with MOBA elements that launched in September 2016. The game is listed as one of the top 10 most played games on Steam with a peak of just over 40,000 players. The game has had over 100,000 new accounts created in 24 hours during the first weekend of its Open Beta.

The Paladins Invitational is a tournament that will be held at the Hi-Rez Expo in Atlanta, Georgia from January 5-8, 2017. Hi-Rez Studios co-founder and COO Todd Harris has stated, “We’ve also seen a very strong interest in Paladins from competitive players and e-sports organizations worldwide and are therefore extending the Paladins Invitational to include more regions and more teams”

The tournament will include teams from North America, Europe, China, Australia/New Zealand, Latin America, and Brazil. Hi-Rez Studios global partners will be conducting regional tournaments as a lead-up to the invitational. Level Up will be covering Brazil/Latin America, Double Jump will be covering Australia/New Zealand, and Tencent will be covering China. Following the completion of the regional games, eight teams will meet in Atlanta to compete for a $150,000 prize pool.

Hi-Rez Studios recently responded to allegations that their latest title had copied gameplay from Overwatch in a post on the game's subreddit. If you're interested in attending the Hi-Rez Expo you can purchase tickets for it via the event's official website. The expo will also be streamed live at twitch.tv/hireztv. If you'd like to play Paladins, it's available on Steam and via the game's official website.
