Blizzard Entertainment is finally debuting its first go at a professional esports league for Overwatch, their premier futuristic first-person shooter with a cast of 26 different characters. 12 teams representing different cities around the world will be gathering at the Blizzard Arena in Los Angeles for a series of games over the next four days. The schedule for the first two nights of the Overwatch League preseason has already been announced:
Wednesday, December 6, 2017
- Florida Mayhem vs. San Francisco Shock - 7:00 PM Eastern
- Los Angeles Valiant vs. San Francisco Shock - 9:00 PM Eastern
- Seoul Dynasty vs. Shanghai Dragons - 11:00 PM Eastern
Thursday, December 7, 2017
- Los Angeles Gladiators vs. London Spitfire - 5:00 PM Eastern
- Dallas Fuel vs. Houston Outlaws - 7:00 PM Eastern
- New York Excelsior vs. Boston Uprising - 9:00 PM Eastern
The San Francisco Shock will be pulling double-duty on the first evening due to the Philadelphia fusion having to drop out thanks to player logistics issues according to a pair of tweets from the team's official account:
Four streams will be running concurrently for the preseason games in English, French, Korean, and Mandarin. If you can't catch the live videos (either due to timezones or them not being broadcast in your region), VODs will likely be available after the matches are completed. The inaugural season will have a twice-weekly show that goes over the highlights of the week's matches, but we won't have that available until it begins properly in January. If you do tune in and decide you want to support your favorite team, you'll be able to purchase team & league merch from the Blizzard Gear Store starting today at 1:00 PM Eastern Time.
