Not every new game launch goes smoothly, unfortunately — Outriders crossplay is broken on launch, suffering from a bug that is causing players to get kicked from games.

Outriders is the newest co-op shooter developed by People Can Fly and published by Square Enix. Your superpowered (and heavily-armed) characters can tear it up like madmen and it's proven to be a pretty popular formula;

The game has just launched today and there's a bit of a problem, unfortunately= — a bug has broken Outriders crossplay, resulting in players being kicked from matches on both PC and console. The problem was highlighted in a list of known issues posted on Reddit by Square Enix.

"In preparing the Day 1 builds for PC and Consoles, we discovered a desynchronization between the PC and Console code," the Reddit comment read. "This results in a backend mismatch which causes players to be kicked out of a multiplayer game that includes both Console and PC players."

When is an Outriders Crossplay Fix Coming?

Unfortunately, there isn't yet an Outriders crossplay fix. That said, both People Can Fly and Square Enix are aware of the issue and they're working on a fix.

"We are treating this issue with the highest priority and we are working on patches that will synchronize all platform code, which will resolve these issues," read a comment on Reddit.

For now, Square Enix recommends that PC players do not invite console players to their games and vice-versa; Steam and Epic Games Store players can currently crossplay with no issues, as can PlayStation & Xbox players. Problems only emerge when a console player attempts to crossplay with a PC player.

Outriders Launch is Pretty Popular

Outriders crossplay issues aside, the game's launch is already going pretty well. It currently boasts well over 100,000 players on Steam alone as highlighted by @Benji-Sales.That's on top of the more than 2 million people who have downloaded the free demo and more than three times higher than Marvel's Avengers all-time peak of 28,145.

Thankfully, the crossplay issues are pretty easy to avoid until Square Enix gets a fix out the door. You can get in on the action yourself by buying Outriders for PC and consoles via its official website starting at $59.99 or your regional equivalent; you can also play a free demo on Steam.
