The Outlast Trials Brings Cold War Horror in 2021

Set during the Cold War, the latest in the horror series Outlast is going to be just as horrifying as the last. Originally announced in December 2019, The Outlast Trails tasks you with escaping a horrifying facility with new scares. At least this time, you can bring some friends.

During the PC Gaming Show, we learned more about Red Barresl next morbid horror game, The Outlast Trials, which will feature human experimentation, brainwashing, mind control, and more monsters to scare the Hell out of you. The most different element from previous Outlast titles is the human element. See the teaser trailer below:

You're not alone in this horrifying adventure. You'll tackle this horror title with up to three other players. That makes it a four player adventure, including yourself - but singleplayer is also an option like the other games.

To hear a bit more about The Outlast Trials, here is the trailer's description:

Set in the era of the Cold War, human guinea pigs are involuntarily recruited by the good folks at the Murkoff Corporation to test advanced methods of brainwashing and mind control. In a world of distrust, fear, and violence, your morals will be challenged, your endurance tested, and your sanity crushed. All in the name of progress, science, and profit.

The Outlast Trials will launch on Steam in 2021, but until then, you can find out more information on the developer's official website.

Quick Take

I would say that Outlast is one of those series' that even I'm not brave enough to touch. Sure, I like horror, but these guys take it to the next level. I like the fact that you can play along with friends. Maybe it won't be as scary. But then, if you saw the trailer, that didn't turn out well for the group. Either way, I like the theme, the monster in the trailer, and hopefully I can muster up the courage to play.

Are you going to play singleplayer or with friends? Let us know in the comments below!
